The latest Emperor’s Decree brings big news to the lands of Massina! The first is Emperor’s Day, an upcoming celebration with a special tournament. The second is an official alpha release, slated for the end of November. And of course, there are some more fun details!
Occasionally, the Emperor of Massina releases announcements and proclamations in the form of official Decrees. The latest brings news of upcoming events and game updates!
To begin, we’ll have a celebration known as Emperor’s Day on November 8th, 2023. On that day everyone who owns Prime Eternals or Elemental Eternals will receive an extra experience bonus when claiming their daily login rewards. Also, going forward, the daily experience points awarded will be increased over the current levels.
But the biggest news comes from the arena. Players will now be able to use their own unique Champions in arena combat!
And to go with this new change to the arena, we’ll have a special tournament on Emperor’s Day. Tournament times will be at 12pm EST and 6pm EST. It’s open to everyone (up to 128 combatants), no entry fee required. There will be two divisions, Beginner for those ranked Gold and below, and Advanced for Platinum rank and higher. Everyone who joins the tournament and plays will receive a Lootbox. Other Lootboxes will be distributed to the top players, with the winners of the tournaments earning Prime and Elemental Eternals.
Alpha Release
Champions Ascension is officially in a pre-alpha state. But that will change on November 22nd with an alpha release! However, the team is quick to point out that this is not a full alpha — rather just a major milestone in their game development.
To encourage players to join, all alpha participants in the alpha will also receive special gifts in the form of Gold, Tickets, and a taunt emote.
So what’s new in the alpha? Glad you asked! For starters, there will be a lengthy player quest. Players will create a new character to progress through the quest, discover the world of Massina, and level up. Along the way, players may find that their avatars possess some other powers!
Champions will also be able to level up using Essence earned from arena combat in alpha. This provides stat bonuses and maybe even new abilities. Champions who reach the maximum level can even Ascend, moving up to the next tier of Champion!
The Emperor’s Decree also mentions the first implementation of the core economy. We know some of the currencies available (Gold, Chrono XP, raw Essence, and Essence crystals) will be used to level up Champions, but details are sparse on what other sort of economic features we’ll see in this first alpha release.

Champions Ascension is an arena-based, gladiatorial combat game built inside a virtual world. Though the 3D arena combat is the centerpiece of the game, Champions Ascension also features an open world around it. One where players can walk around, interact, and engage in various other activities.
