Engineering leader who scaled Dropbox through IPO and Apollo.io through hypergrowth joins BuildOps to lead the next phase of its AI-native platform
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESS Newswire / May 5, 2026 / BuildOps, the AI-native platform for commercial contractors, today announced the appointment of Dzmitry Markovich as Chief Technology Officer. Dzmitry joins from Apollo.io, one of the fastest-scaling B2B SaaS companies, where he was leading the Engineering function and served as Senior Vice President of Engineering. He previously spent seven years at Dropbox, rising to Vice President of Engineering and leading the company’s engineering organization through hypergrowth and its 2018 public offering.
The appointment arrives as BuildOps expands OpsAI, the intelligence embedded across its platform that predicts, recommends, and executes work for commercial trades. With more than 1,500 contractors running their businesses on BuildOps and the strongest customer momentum in the company’s history, the next phase of the platform requires engineering leadership that has already operated enterprise-scale AI and SaaS systems. Dzmitry has done it at two of the most technically demanding companies of the last decade.
“Dzmitry is one of the top CTOs in the country, and we are proud to have him on our team,” said Alok Chanani, Co-Founder and CEO of BuildOps. “He has built and scaled engineering organizations through exactly the kinds of transitions we are navigating now: hypergrowth, AI-platform maturity, and enterprise-grade reliability. The trades have been waiting for technology this serious.”
In his new role, Dzmitry will lead BuildOps’ engineering, infrastructure, platform, data, and security organizations. He will partner closely with Chief Product Officer Will Lehrmann to take the company’s engineering, product, and design team to its next level of velocity, reliability, and autonomous capability. That trajectory is central to BuildOps’ system of action: technology that does not just record what happened on a job, but anticipates what should happen next and executes on the contractor’s behalf.
Dzmitry is not new to BuildOps. He has served on the company’s Advisory Board since 2023, and already knows the product, the customer, and the commercial trades market. He began his career in engineering roles at Microsoft and LinkedIn while founding, leadingand exiting his own company. At Dropbox, he led the key building blocks like infrastructure, platform, services, storage, persistent data, physical engineering, data centers across the company’s IPO and post-IPO scale. He subsequently served as Senior Vice President of Engineering at Dapper Labs, the web3 consumer platform behind NBA Top Shot, and most recently at Apollo.io where he transformed the company’s engineering maturity, velocity and AI native muscle to a new level.
“BuildOps has already built the product the commercial trades have been missing and is pushing the whole critical sector to a new world,” said Dzmitry. “What excites me is what comes next: turning that foundation into technology that works ahead of contractors, not alongside them. The chance to define what AI looks like in an industry this large, this complex, this critical at this time for US and beyond and this under-served is rare.”
The appointment continues BuildOps’ build-out of an executive team engineered for the company’s next phase of growth. Dzmitry joins CPO Will Lehrmann, a 12-year Procore veteran; CRO Greg Gillis, who scaled Coupa Software from $300 million to more than $1 billion in revenue; and CMO Colin Piper, formerly head of global marketing for Autodesk’s construction technology division.
BuildOps has raised over $225 million in funding, including a $127 million Series C led by Meritech Capital Partners that valued the company at $1 billion. The platform today powers more than 1,500 commercial specialty contractors across North America, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and refrigeration businesses.
Dzmitry holds a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from Belarusian State University and completed advanced studies in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Stanford University.
