NFT Garden Flags at Lowes (So Dumb It’s Smart)

TL;DR

  • Lowe’s, the US home improvement giant, has released a garden flag featuring two characters from the Mfers NFT series.

  • Mfers uses a Creative Commons Zero (CC0) copyright license, meaning anyone can use the imagery for commercial gain, without permission or purchase of an NFT.

  • The idea behind CC0 NFTs being: if anyone can monetize the imagery, they will – boosting the series’ visibility/value in the process.

Full Story

Alright, that last article was a doozy.

Let’s keep this one quick, fun n’ dumb (fumb, if you will).

Lowe’s, the US home improvement giant, has released a garden flag featuring two characters from the Mfers NFT series.

NFT related merch ain’t new…

But merch from an NFT series made to honor crypto degens making it to the shelves of a national retailer certainly is.

And it came as a total surprise!

Mfers uses a Creative Commons Zero (CC0) copyright license, meaning anyone can use the imagery for commercial gain, without permission or purchase of an NFT.

So Stephen Thompson and his brother-in-law Matthew Varnell, owners of Total Marketing Web3 and creators of the Mfers garden flags, were able to get them on the shelves at Lowes without permission and completely legally.

(The idea behind CC0 NFTs being: if anyone can monetize the imagery, they will – boosting the series’ visibility/value in the process).

Helluva concept!
