Bitcoin Miners Get a Lifeline as Hashprice Explodes 20% Higher

Key Takeaways

  • Bitcoin hashprice jumped 20.41% in 4 days, lifting miner revenue to $38.29 PH/s.
  • Foundry USA leads 133 mining pools as Bitcoin’s hashrate closes in on 1 ZH/s.
  • Newhedge.io stats show BTC miners have earned $682.69M in August, still chasing July’s $875M haul.

Bitcoin Mining Revenue Rises

Bitcoin miners are finally catching a break from the price jump, with hashprice climbing from a daily rate of $31.80 per petahash per second (PH/s) on Aug. 18 to the current $38.29 PH/s on Saturday, Aug. 22. Hashprice measures how much revenue a bitcoin miner can squeeze from a specific amount of hashrate, in this case, a petahash.

There are roughly 1,000 terahash per second (TH/s) in a single petahash, and some of today’s top mining machines are pushing past that processing power or close to it. At current hashprice values, for example, a Bitmain Antminer S23 Hydro 3U producing 1.16 PH/s can pull in an estimated $17.86 in daily profit while paying $0.10 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for electricity.

The estimated profits for the top five bitcoin mining machines as of 11 a.m. EDT on Aug. 22, 2026. Profit estimates can change rapidly with BTC’s price, mining difficulty, hashprice, and other factors affecting a miner’s bottom line.

The S23 Hydro 3U currently sits at the top of the SHA-256 application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) market by profitability. Below it is Bitdeer’s Sealminer A4 Ultra Hydro with 886 TH/s in processing power. At the time of writing, using the same $0.10 per kWh costs and today’s hashprice, the Sealminer A4 Ultra Hydro pulls in an estimated $13.75 per day. With lower electricity costs, ASICs across the board, including machines from MicroBT and Canaan, are also turning steady profits.

Difficulty Looks Set to Favor Miners

The next hurdle miners have to clear is difficulty, but that too appears to be breaking in their favor. Block times are running a hair above the 10-minute average at 10 minutes and 5 seconds, and at the current pace, today’s Aug. 22, 2026, difficulty adjustment is projected to drop a percentage point.

Mining Participation Rises

At press time, 133 major, midsized, and even extremely small mining pools, including solo-style operations, are dedicating hashrate to the Bitcoin network. Foundry USA leads the pack as of Aug. 22 with 214.73 EH/s aimed at the blockchain, while Antpool commands 156.17 EH/s and F2pool follows with 110.62 EH/s of processing power. ViaBTC commands 91.02 EH/s in fourth place, while Secpool and Spiderpool both are tied for fifth place with roughly 65.07 EH/s each.

Foundry USA dominates the mining field, with Antpool and F2pool firmly planted in second and third place. ViaBTC follows in fourth, while Secpool and Spiderpool are locked in a tie for fifth as the biggest pools soak up most of Bitcoin’s computational firepower. The remaining hashrate is scattered across MARA Pool, Luxor, Binance Pool, and smaller operations, with BTC.com (now Cloverpool) bringing up the rear. While total computational power was stuck below 900 EH/s, today it sits near 922 EH/s, putting Bitcoin within striking distance of the 1 zettahash range. While hashprice has climbed, data logged by newhedge.io shows August still trails July’s total revenue, though miners have a solid week left to close the gap. So far, bitcoin miners have collected $682.69 million from block subsidies and fees, with just $5.14 million coming from transaction fees. That still leaves miners chasing the $875 million hauled in during July.

Bitcoin miners have taken the bear market squarely on the chin since BTC slid from its all-time high just above $126,000 in October 2025. This week’s rally has finally loosened the screws, making conditions considerably cushier for mining participants and SHA-256 profitability. The question is whether it lasts. For now, only time will tell if BTC’s bear market hangover is finally fading, and miners will feel the shift firsthand.
