A soft launch from Champions Ascension today brings the world of Massina online in a more permanent state. Aside from maintenance periods and patches, the team plans to have the game available to the players 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
Starting today (August 17th, 2023), players can join the free to play world of Champions Ascension at any time! No longer will the world of Massina only be open for select windows on the weekends. Now it will remain open at all times, taking a major step towards becoming a living, virtual world!
Champions Ascension is free to play. At the moment, everyone has the same selection of Champions to choose from when fighting in the arena, making it an even playing field. The team has been releasing regular patches, working on balance changes and making the combat more fun and fluid. Expect to see additional changes as they get feedback from the players.
Things to Do in Massina
The main parts of the current pre-alpha will always be open such as the tavern, the open world portion of the city, the mini-games, and one on one duels in the arena. Old Sally, the PvE boss raid in the sewers will be available as well, though each player is only allowed a limited number of attempts per day. Players with Prime Eternals and Elemental Eternals can now claim their XP points daily, with a reset time of 2am CST. And of course, you can always just hang out!
However, the larger arena events will only be open at certain times. In addition, the Champions team plans to hold various scheduled events to encourage active player participation. Here is the published schedule:
- Thursdays – FFA
- Fridays – 3v3
- Saturdays – 3v3 & Larger events
- Sundays – Larger events or The Day of Rest
- Mondays – Mini-Game Monday
- Tuesdays – Patch Day – Server Maintenance – 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM – Tentative
- Wednesdays – 1v1 Focus
In addition, there are now a few, new, very exclusive, and very high cost, items for sale. Players need tickets for these purchases, which can be earned by fighting in the arena and playing mini-games in the world. But it will take some grinding to pick up these limited availability items. The cheapest is a teleportation device allowing the holder to teleport to a friend’s location anywhere in the world. Cost, 5k tickets. But with only 25 of them are available this is sure to be a hot commodity! There will also be three other items — a special title that gives bonus tickets (40k tokens), a dash ability to use in the main world (20k), and a point bound teleportation device (20k). All of them in very limited quantities.

Champions Ascension is an arena-based, gladiatorial combat game built inside a virtual world. Though the 3D arena combat is the centerpiece of the game, Champions Ascension is also building an open world around it. One where players can walk around, interact, and engage in various other activities.
