Immutable Pre-Approved Transactions: The End of Disrupted Gameplay

Immutable is shaking things up with its Passport‘s Pre-Approved Transactions, a feature that aims to make blockchain gaming feel like traditional gaming. If you’ve ever had to pause your game to approve a transaction in an external wallet, this is a game changer. Instead of pausing the action, you can now trade items, craft new gear, and shop in-game marketplaces – all without leaving the game.

Why This Matters for Developers

For game developers, this is more than just a better player experience – it’s a tool to build more in-game worlds. Handling blockchain transactions causes interruptions when playing; for example, players need to leave games to authorize transactions. Now, with Pre-Approved Transactions, developers can build advanced in-game economies and trading systems that feel like a part of the game.

Immutable, which has 70% of the Web3 gaming market and over 400 games on the platform, believes this feature will allow developers to focus more on gameplay and less on the technical blockchain hurdles. By simplifying the process, developers can deliver longer, more engaging sessions for players, higher player retention and more in-game purchases.

Bringing New Players to Web3 Gaming

With Pre-approved transactions, the Immutable Passport lets games get user consent for certain transactions upfront, so you don’t need to show those pesky confirmation pop-ups. Many players will grant this permission. After all, if they don’t trust the game to manage its economy, then the game will have bigger problems.

This isn’t just about making it easier for existing players – it’s also about bringing new gamers into Web3. According to Immutable’s fundamental belief: “blockchain technology should enhance gaming experiences and bring Web3 closer to a Web2 experience.”

Immutable is removing the tech-scary aspects of blockchain interactions by simplifying the approval process and keeping it in the game. This will appeal to traditional gamers who might be interested in blockchain games but are put off by complex and unfamiliar processes.

Imagine being in a game and being able to upgrade your weapons or trade without breaking your flow. By putting blockchain approvals in the game interface, Immutable is removing the usual obstacles and aiming to make Web3 gaming as smooth as possible.

Some of the top games on Immutable include Illuvium, Gods Unchained, Guild of Guardians, Ember Sword, and Cross The Ages.

Security First, then Growth

Player safety and asset security are Immutable’s top priorities. Pre-approved transactions currently only support game-issued assets, so players are in a safe environment. But IMX, USDC and ETH will be added in the future. This is part of Immutable’s ongoing mission to build a platform where users can trust their transactions.

Security has been the key to the platform’s growth, with over 3 million players. By handling blockchain interactions behind the scenes, Immutable is offering a secure yet transparent experience so players can focus on the game, not the tech.

Web3 Gaming is Looking Good

Pre-approved transactions are a big milestone for Immutable and the Web3 gaming industry. With over $200 billion spent on in-game assets each year, the possibilities are huge. By removing friction from blockchain interactions, Immutable and its Passport aims to set a new bar for what players and developers can expect from Web3 games.

For players, it means uninterrupted, engaging gameplay with true digital ownership of assets. For developers, it means powerful tools to build complex in-game systems without the blockchain headaches. As Immutable continues to evolve, the face of Web3 gaming will surely evolve with it.
