It’s happening…72.5% Of the Top 40 Video Game Companies Are Now in Web3.

TL;DR

  • Web3 gaming doesn’t need broad consumer support to reach mass adoption, it just needs the support of console/game makers.

  • And right now, 72.5% (that’s 29/40) of the top video game companies are building out blockchain infrastructure, in some way/shape/form.

  • Which means – love it or hate it – Web3 is coming to gaming.

Full Story

The large majority of gamers actively reject Web3 as a concept.

Even so, we’re convinced that they’re going to adopt Web3 gaming, en masse, over the coming years.

Why? Because some things don’t require broad consumer support to be adopted – or better yet, just cause we don’t ‘get’ something, doesn’t mean it’s doomed to fail.

Remember back in the early 2010’s when every tech company was talking about ‘the cloud’?

Today, most people would point to it as a failed tech fad…without realizing they use ‘the cloud’ on a daily basis.

Whether directly (e.g. iPhones sending photos to iCloud) or indirectly (e.g. watching Netflix, which stores its content on an Amazon cloud server).

So why the apathy?

Because tech infrastructure is boring as hell!

And both cloud computing and blockchain are infrastructure technologies.

The good news? The majority of folks don’t have to willingly engage (or even care) for infrastructure technologies to be adopted.

It happens in the background.

And right now, 72.5% (that’s 29/40) of the top video game companies are building out blockchain infrastructure, in some way/shape/form.

(That includes the big three: Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo).

Which means – love it or hate it – Web3 is coming to gaming.
