MetalCore Closed Beta 2 is underway, and with it comes a chance to earn Marks, which in turn will let participants claim a portion of MCG token from the upcoming token generation event!
It feels like every other news story in web3 gaming these days involves a new token. And this one is no exception! MetalCore launches into phase 2 of their closed beta, offering token rewards for players and those who engage with the community.
Officially titled Mech Up, this phase of the beta started on April 9th, 2024, and runs through May 14th, with a one week hiatus from April 23rd to the 30th for some sort of super secret update!
If you don’t already have a beta access key, you can sign up at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSejm2rrZNPPX2ked-8Hw-5qpHeaNJhuRlSHhPqCv9SJ67327w/viewform and watch the MetalCore social channels for opportunities to enlist. In addition, owners of MetalCore Infantry NFTs receive automatic access to the beta.
This beta phase introduces play to earn, in the form of Marks. Beta participants can earn Marks by playing the game and completing missions. These Marks will then be redeemable for MSG, the on-chain token for the MetalCore ecosystem.
But if you can’t get into the beta, no fear! You can still earn Marks by participating in social quests on DeQuest. Many of these are the standard, follow, re-tweet, and join style quests, though some also include in-game play accomplishments.
Additionally, MetalCore is holding a migration promotion. They want everyone to move their MetalCore Infantry NFTs over to the Immutable skEVM network. Migrating your Infantry NFTs will make them playable in the MetalCore game, and also eligible to receive rewards in MCG token, claimable at the TGE. In order to be eligible for the token bonus, you will need to migrate your Infantry MFT sometime between now and May 14th, 2024, 3pm PST.
MCG will function as a staking token and for minting items into NFTs. Players will also be able to trade MCG for Shards, an in-game currency used for pretty much all progression in-game, as well as for purchasing cosmetics and quality of life perks such as fast travel and quicker repairs.
We don’t have a specific release date for MCG, though the team hopes to launch it sometime soon after Phase 2 ends.
What is MetalCore?
MetalCore is a web3-enabled game that is a cross between Planetside and Battlefield. It’s a first-person/third-person, sci-fi-themed FPS with numerous vehicles, infantry types, and loadouts. The game features instanced, faction combat, with some battles supporting up to 100 players per side! MetalCore includes vehicle and infantry combat, with a wide variety of combat styles and support options to choose from. Coordination with your teammates and faction members will be important.
During the Faction battles, each side tries to take and control various tactical points around the map. Tactical points provide in-game advantages for the controlling faction. Each player has a limited number of respawns per battle. Once those respawns run out, that player may no longer play in that battle. But, other players can take their place.
MetalCore includes both PvE and PvP zones. Players craft vehicles and equipment in Garages, and can upgrade and customize them with special skins and decals. MetalCore will also support Baronies, or guilds.
MetalCore will include free-to-play options. They are also implementing a Content Creator’s program with rewards for streamers and video creators. The game is currently in beta testing.
MetalCore partnered with Immutable X earlier this year, so expect to see future integrations with the Immutable Passport and marketplace.
