PokerGO Play, a new NFT-based social poker app, has launched on Gala Games in partnership with specialist streaming platform PokerGO.
Developed by Shiver Entertainment, PokerGO Play is billed as, “a social poker game that is unlike anything available today.” Combining realistic poker gameplay with digital ownership and gameplay perks through NFTs, the game also offers the chance of daily rewards through a sweepstakes program.
“We have been able to build a superior social poker game that players everywhere will love,” said Richard Blankenship, chief revenue officer of PokerGO, in a press release accompanying news of the partnership announcement.
The free-to-play game offers players a daily chip allotment which can be topped up. Winning chips from tables and tournaments rewards players with entries into a sweepstakes for a daily drawing, offering prizes in Gala Games’ GALA cryptocurrency.
Players can own Frames and Avatars as NFTs, which offer cosmetic upgrades as well as gameplay advantages outside of the traditional framework of poker. Frames enable players to equip Abilities and Upgrades such as their daily starting chips and daily chip carryover percentage, as well as the chance to win bonus sweepstakes from certain pots.
“Players will soon realize the heightened entertainment that comes with playing poker in an immersive Web3 environment,” said Gala Games founder Eric Schiermeyer.
