Theta Labs announces the debut of Theta EdgeCloud with other AI models

Theta Labs has announced that it is closer to the launch of Theta EdgeCloud. The AI-backed model is in the final stages of completion, after which Theta Labs will announce the launch date. It will empower developers to deploy popular generative AI and large language models. This includes Llama 2 and Stable Diffusion. Also, developers will have the facility to deploy models that they have customized specifically to serve a definite purpose.

Key GPU resources, including V100s, NVIDIA A100s, and T4s will power business use cases. Other AI models that will be launched with Theta EdgeCloud are Google Gemma-7B, ControlNet, and OpenAI Whisper, to mention a few.

The development comes almost two months after Theta Labs made it public that there were attempts to bring the next generation of AI computing to the market. It dates back to the concluding days of February 2024. Theta EdgeCloud was, at that time, defined as innovative software designed for periphery computing.

Its first phase could go live on May 1, 2024. The date is mentioned in the roadmap; however, it is subject to change. The goal is to have a mechanism in place that empowers developers to handle the entire AI pipeline construction process.

Many members of the community are looking forward to the launch of EdgeCloud. One reason is that Theta Labs has expressed its commitment to supporting 3D rendering tasks. The goal is to back text-to-3D generative rendering tasks. It is divided into two stages.

The first stage involves the optimization of low-resolution 3S mesh, while the second stage comes into play only when the assignment necessitates the utilization of high-performance EdgeCloud GPUs.

Theta Labs last informed that the upcoming launch would be backed by its edge network, which has over ten thousand nodes across the globe. The goal here is to democratize distributed computing power by supporting desktops with different OSs (Microsoft, Linux, and Mac). The GPU computation will be backed by CUDA technology, particularly on Windows devices. This will enable the users to utilize their computational capacity for purposes other than standard graphics processing.

That marks a pivotal moment for Theta as it aims to expand desktop and laptop GPU computation capabilities. The development is imperative for Theta Labs, for it could potentially help the platform become the market leader, where several hybrid cloud-distributed AI computing platforms are attempting to take the lead.

Theta Labs is getting closer to launching Theta EdgeCloud. As a result, AI models can be deployed directly out of the box or tailored to a specific need. The Theta team is in the process of compiling and finalizing an open-source AI model. According to the company’s official roadmap for 2024, the first phase could start on May 1, 2024. It will give customers rapid access to GPU resources such as V100s, NVIDIA A100s, and T4, among others.
