Reportedly the US SEC body is planning to initiate a lawsuit against the UniSwap crypto exchange and also the UniSwap team is ready to fight against the SEC’s charges.
Uniswap is a popular decentralised crypto exchange. This was the first ever Defi crypto exchange on the Ethereum network. This exchange supports trading of crypto tokens on different e.g. Ethereum, Polygon, Optimism, Arbitrum, Celo, BNB Chain, Base, Blast, and Avalanche Networks.
On 10 April 2024, UniSwap founder Hayden Adams confirmed that the UniSwap crypto exchange received a Wells Notice from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Hayden said that he is not surprised with the SEC’s notice but he is angry with this action.
The UniSwap founder confirmed that he is confident & ready to hit back against the SEC’s concerns in court because the UniSwap team established & provided all the crypto-related services full of safety, transparency, & legal.
Hayden also alleged that the SEC’s main job is to protect investors across the country but they’re are engaged in taking bad actions against long-term crypto companies e.g Coinbase sued by the SEC body in the middle of 2023 even though the company followed all the basics rules & laws to comply with the traditional financial rules.
UniSwap chief legal officer Marvin Ammori also responded to this Wells Notice and said that it was not an unexpected thing by the SEC body.
Marvin confirmed that UniSwap is going to win against the SEC’s raised concerns over UniSwap’s crypto services. He also said that Coinbase, Ripple, and Grayscale already won the cases against the SEC’s charges.
Furthermore, Marvin explained that the SEC body has the authority to take action or regulate only those assets which are security by nature but here the majority of the crypto assets are not security.
Here it is worth it to know that the SEC body has not taken any type of legal action against UniSwap exchange. Wells notice is a type of alarm to inform that the agency will soon take legal action over the raised concerns.
