Another virtual worlds project grows in the web3 gaming space. Vulcan Forged first announced Metascapes, their virtual world builder, back in December. Now, anyone can download the alpha and give it a try (supposedly)!
Metascapes is a series of customizable virtual worlds. Vulcan Forged, the creator of Metascapes, wants players to be able to use one Avatar to access and explore all of the worlds. They also plan to make Metascapes VR compatible, allowing both exploration and creation in a virtual reality environment.
Metascapes is one of the growing number of games leaning into AI assistance. They plan to include a natural language AI helper for the world builders, allowing owners to quickly and easily create the worlds of their dreams! Their demo gif was pretty impressive, but also seemed a bit staged. I look forward to a chance to see how this AI helper works in real life.
The Metascapes website claims that you can create a land plot to customize, but when I tried, I was just sent through an eternal loop of logging in and was never given a chance to create anything. I am also unable to download the Metascapes alpha despite installing the Vulcan Launcher. So I don’t know what’s going on with these guys, but they certainly don’t seem to have ease of accessibility as a priority.
Metascapes has a lot of buzz words and hype on their Twitter feed, but not much actual information available. If they can sort out their new user experience, and make the AI creation actually work as advertised, then they might have something special here. But the genre of virtual worlds is growing rapidly. So they will need to step up their game to keep pace!

What is Vulcan Forged?
Vulcan Forged is a web3 development company that began with an MMO-style game called VulcanVerse. Since then they have expanded, creating their own network, Elysium, adding dapps such as the Agora marketplace and Vulcan Dex, and building a number of play to earn games. Their suite of games includes VulcanVerse, a fantasy MMO, Berserk a TCG style game, Vulcan Runner, Vulcan’s Tower Defense, Vulcan’s Forge Arena, Vulcan’s Battle Chess, Vulcan’s Poker, and Block Babies!
The Vulcan metaverse uses two tokens, PYR and LAVA. LAVA is the in-game, play to earn currency. PYR is the governance token, used for staking and other sorts of activities.
